G2 Esports at Berlin Major 2019

G2 Esports (formerly known as Gamers2) is a Spanish professional esports organization with a line-up of veterans named

  • Richard “shox” Papillon (IGL)
  • Kenny “kennyS” Schrub
  • Lucas “Lucky” Chastang
  • Audric “JaCkz” Jug
  • François “AmaNEk” Delaunay
  • Damien “maLeK” Marcel (Coach)

At Berlin Major 2019, G2 Esports has been potentially proving their skills & never giving up mentality on every game they played. G2 Esports is on a winning record of 3-1 in the Challengers Stage and now advanced to New Legends Stage.

G2 Esports won the first match against Tyloo. It was a sensational match with a scoreline of 16-10 on the map de_overpass with few highlights of kennyS denying the retake with a 3k, shox with a 1v2 clutch and JaCkz stunning 3k to hold the line. Nonetheless, It was an amazing match to watch.

After the victory against Tyloo, G2 Esports was motivated to play against DreamEaters. As expected, G2 Esports successfully won on the map de_overpass with few highlights of shox anti-eco 4 and Lucky triple kill hold.

After a winning streak of 2, G2 Esports had to face Mouz in a bo3. Even though it was Mouz pick, it was favorable for G2 Esports on the map de_train. They almost clean sweep Mouz with a half time of 13-2 and eventually won the first match with 16-5. Unfortunately, G2 Esports couldn’t win against Mouz on their powerful map de_dust2. They lost it with a scoreline of 13-16.

kennyS was questioned “Why did you threw away an 11-4 lead on dust2, what happened there on the CT side afterward?”

We didn’t give up yesterday [against mouz], but we didn’t have the solution. The sad thing is that we actually came up with the solution, but like five minutes after the map.”

Later that match, G2 Esports played Vertigo against Mouz in that series first time on the new version in an official match. They seemed to struggle a lot on their CT side. In my opinion, Vertigo is not a good map to show G2’s real level and to be honest, Mouz was way better than G2. Further, kennyS mentioned

“If someone wants to get better on Vertigo, they should definitely watch mousesports, like we could do”

G2 Esports has worked on their mistakes and played way better than the previous by beating ForZe 2-0 in a bo3 with an overtime score on de_dust2 28-25 and score on de_overpass with 16-12 and reached Legends Stage.

It is predicted to see G2 Esports with more in-depth strats and better chemistry among the teammates later on the Legends stage.
