G2 Esports has recently announced their League Of Legends roster renewal for years to come. It’s a clear sign of how much trust the company puts into their current team and that they plan on dominating both European and International Summoner‘s Rift in the upcoming seasons.
Quickly titled ” The best team Europe has ever produced”, the G2 squad since 2019 consist of:
Toplane: Martin “Wunder” Hansen
Jungle: Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski
Midlane: Rasmus “Caps” Winther
ADC: Luka “Perkz” Perković
Support: Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle
COACH: Fabian “GrabbZ” Lohmann (coaching since the 2018 Season)
The longest standing player in the team is the current botlaner, Perkz; he has been competing for G2 Esports (formerly known as Gamers2) ever since the team’s rebranding in 2015. December 2017 marks the arrival of Wunder and Jankos, who, alongside with Perkz, have been building the core of the squad for the past years. One of the turning points in the team’s history is Perkz’s move to botlane, directly linked with the signing of Caps in November 2018. The former Fnatic member filled the place in G2’s midlane while Perkz started building synergy with yet another newcome, support Mikyx.
Since 2019, the Big Five of G2 have reached such milestones as: becoming both Spring and Summer LEC champions in 2019, winning MSI 2019 in a mindblowing (and fastest) BO5 against NA’s TeamLiquid, coming second in Worlds 2019 and securing the first place in LEC Spring Split 2020. The whole roster has also quickly become one of the fan-favourites. The renewal seemed to be only a formality as the team proceeds to fight for next trophies, including the most important one: the Summoner’s Cup.
One thing is for certain: they will keep on entertaining the audience for the following 3 seasons.
